Veteran-Owned Businesses: Still Serving America, Just in a Different Uniform
Across America, nearly 2 million veteran-owned businesses employ about 5.5 million people and generate close to $1 trillion in sales every year (Source: U.S. Small Business Administration).
That’s a big impact, but the number of veteran business owners keeps dropping. In 2014, veterans made up 11% of all U.S. business owners. Today, it’s down to just 8%.
That decline tells a story. Fewer veterans are owning businesses not because they’ve lost their drive, but because they’ve lost visibility. They’re competing with corporate giants that can outspend and outshine them online.
That’s where One Bison steps in.
We exist to change that trend and help Americans find and support veteran-owned, family-run, and faith-driven businesses that still believe in service, honesty, and hard work.
If you’re a veteran entrepreneur, you can join One Bison for free and get in front of customers who share your values.
If you’re a shopper, you can browse and support veteran-owned companies right now at 👉 onebison.us
Because every purchase is more than a transaction. It’s a thank-you that keeps America working for the people who fought for it.

American Manufacturing Is Making a Comeback
All across the country, the hum of U.S. factories is growing louder again.
Since 2021, companies have announced nearly 1 million new manufacturing jobs, much of it in industries like semiconductors, batteries, and clean energy.
Wages tell a similar story. The average American manufacturing worker now earns around $106,000 a year (with benefits), compared to about $90,000 across other private industries. (Source: NAM)
Big names are bringing production home. GE Appliances is shifting washer and refrigerator lines from China to Kentucky and Georgia, creating more than 1,000 jobs. Intel is building chip plants in Ohio. Toyota, Tesla, and Ford are expanding U.S. battery and EV facilities. And smaller workshops, from Texas toolmakers to Carolina furniture shops - are firing up again after years of being shuttered.
Every time something moves from “Made in China” to “Made in the USA,” it’s not just an economic win. It’s a moral one. It means families can stay where they grew up. It means paychecks that support a household, not just scrape by. And it means communities finding their footing again after decades of offshoring.
It’s a comeback that reminds us who we are: builders, problem solvers, and neighbors who take pride in work done right.

Our Take: The Parallel Economy
People throw around the term “parallel economy” like it’s some new idea or political movement. But to us, it’s simpler than that. It’s about freedom and the responsibility that comes with it.
We don’t need the government telling us where to shop or what to believe. That’s not liberty.
But freedom isn’t just about doing whatever’s easiest, it’s about doing what’s right, even when it takes more effort.
Think about the things that matter most in life:
Raising a family. Providing a meal. Keeping a marriage strong. Staying healthy.
None of that comes easy. It takes work, sacrifice, and patience. But we do it because we know it’s worth it, and because the results outlast the effort.
Somewhere along the way, we stopped seeing our buying choices the same way.
We started chasing what was fast and cheap, no matter where it came from.
And in the process, we traded local jobs, steady paychecks, and homegrown pride for imported convenience. We let entire industries slip away to countries with lower standards, weaker protections, and very different values.
We’re paying that price now: with empty factories, fragile supply chains, and communities that don’t have much left to stand on.
The truth is, we don’t need anyone to fix it for us. We just need to see the bigger picture.
When you buy American-made, when you support a family-run or veteran-owned business, you’re investing in more than a product. You’re investing in your health, your safety, and your community.
The parallel economy isn’t a boycott or a trend. It’s a return to common sense and a reminder that freedom only lasts when we take care of it.
Start with awareness. Learn where things come from. Ask who you’re supporting. Then make the choice that lines up with your values (even if it’s not the cheapest or easiest).
Because just like with family, marriage, or faith, the best things in life require effort.
That’s how we keep this country strong, one honest choice at a time.
